Froy Garza was appointed Assistant Director, Outpatient Services at VA North Texas Health Care System on December 11, 2016. Since September 2013, he served as Executive Assistant to the Director/Public Affairs Officer.
The second largest VA system in the nation, VA North Texas includes facilities in Dallas, Bonham, Fort Worth, Grand Prairie, Plano and Tyler as well as five community-based outpatient clinics throughout its 40-county service area. With an annual operating budget exceeding $1 billion, more than 6,00 staff and 1,500 volunteers, VA North Texas provides care to more than 130,000 unique patients and recorded 1.5 million outpatient visits in FY18.
Mr. Garza began his VA career in 2009 at the VA Texas Valley Coastal Bend Health Care System as Public Affairs Officer, Patient Centered Care Coordinator and later Strategic Planner/System Redesign Coordinator. Mr. Garza also served as Acting Administrative Officer at McAllen, Harlingen and Corpus Christi VA Outpatient Clinics, Acting Administrative Officer to the Associate Director and Acting Executive Assistant to the Director.
Mr. Garza is a certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt practitioner and Master Black Belt in training. He is a graduate of the 2011 VISN 17 Leadership Development Institute, 2015 VHA Health Care Leadership Development Program and the 2017 Executive Career Development Program. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and English and a Master of Public Administration from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley at Edinburg, Texas.
