Max took the long road into People Analytics. At Northwestern, he switched into a Psychology major after one life-changing class, focusing on happiness (socioemotional research) and working his way into a Harvard lab with Dr. Daniel Gilbert to pursue the science. He graduated right into Nielsen's Emerging Leaders Rotational Program, working across 6 roles in media research but pursuing recruiting, ERGs and People Analytics whenever possible. Max finally and formally stepped into HR in January 2017, joining BuzzFeed as its first People Analytics lead. Max and the People Team have since brought the company from having no HR function to winning national awards for best employee resource groups, most innovative work culture, and best places to work for gender equality.
